We had only been home from our Thanksgiving trip to Ohio, when Will got a call from the Boston Red Sox. He was offered an interview for a scouting job for them, which would relocate him to the Cleveland area. So a few days later he flew to Boston for the interview.
As he drove home from the airport late that night, a deer ran right into him. Thank God, Will was not hurt. The car didn't even look that bad and still ran. However, the insurance said it was "totaled" so we needed to find a new vehicle. Amazingly, the insurance gave us almost the same amount for our car as we had paid for it three years ago! So with that, some of our savings, and some early Christmas money, we bought a mini-van! (I fully intended to take picture of it for this post, but I forgot. So, another time...)
Before that came through, we were waiting to hear about the Red Sox job. Meanwhile, Wabash offered to make Will's job full-time, with benefits! So it was between the two. We prayed and prayed and decided to leave it up to God - if he was offered the Red Sox job, he'd take it. If not, we were meant to stay here. And after a week of waiting we had our answer. He did not get the job, but did accept the Wabash job. Honestly, we were both relieved. This is still not a "permanent" job, but it's good for another few years.
We are so thankful to God for providing us with this job - and with a new vehicle!
We spent Christmas with our church and my family. The next day we opened presents as a family (in our pajamas :) and watched the snow fall all day long. On the 27th, we drove to Ohio and celebrated with Will's family. We had a surprise birthday party for his dad who not only turned 60, but also retired right after the New Year!
On the 31st we had a bridal shower for Juliana, my brother John's fiance. It was so nice to have her and John here and visit with them. There wedding is right around the corner - February 3rd! It will be in Boston. It's all the talk in the Miller circle right now. :)
Thankfully, January as been pretty normal.
Mia is singing all the time! She even sings what she is saying sometimes! She quotes books all the time and takes good care of her "babies", giving them naps and "nursing" them. We're working on potty training, but it's an on-going process! She's very helpful with Michael and is always willing to give him a toy or cheer him up if he fusses.
Michael is now 6 months. He's getting pretty good at sitting up and has his first tooth now! He's almost 17 pounds and 28 inches long. He's our big boy! He's usually very happy and smiling, and it's not hard to make him laugh.
The baseball team starts practices this Monday! Hard to believe it's here already.
I'm busy with all my "home" projects. Mainly "redecorating" our home since we'll be here a while longer. You can read about it and (in the future) see pictures of it on my blog: www.hannahv7.blogspot.com.
Here are some pictures from the past couple months:
